The EU-Africa Business Summit 2019 returned to the Mandarin Oriental in Marrakech for its 2nd edition on the 28 and 29 of November 2019. Participants and speakers had the chance to discuss the renewed economic relations between the EU and Africa.
Through all of the discussions it became clear that "listing problems is one thing, defining priorities is another” eloquently put by Ibrahima Guimba-Saïdou, Minister and Special Advisor of the President of the Republic of Niger.
Key subjects discussed were education, industrialisation, agriculture, digitalisation, energy, women entrepreneurs, renewable energy, and sustainable investment. The series of engaging debates, high-level panel discussions and inspiring sharing and steering sessions led to the following take-aways:
- Africa’s youth: the keystone to the continent's development
- Digitalization: an opportunity for Africa
- Towards a globally competitive Africa
- The role of women at the heart of the continent’s development
- Stronger and more competitive African agriculture for fairer rural development
